Worley has 25 years’ experience undertaking international decommissioning projects, with a team of decommissioning experts on hand to support our customers.
Our expertise in decommissioning means we can deliver full life cycle solutions including late-life planning, the development of decommissioning options, comparative assessments up to and including cessation of production, and detailed planning for the safe removal and disposal of your hydrocarbons assets. We can assume duty holder responsibilities and undertake late life management and rationalized maintenance, hydrocarbon reduction management, plant optimization, de-bottlenecking in the run up to, and including, the cessation of production.
Notable projects include the structural analysis, engineering, method statements, resource estimates and activity schedules for the cleaning and hook-down activities for the removal of Shell’s Brent assets. We developed the cost and schedule estimates for the abandonment of a large offshore facility with three fixed platforms, a floating storage and offloading vessel with an export gas pipeline of more than 500 km. Our team assessed the environmental risk and impacts of the activities and we also provided a decommissioning plan, which identified the legal framework and industry standards. Additionally, we have provided the UK Government with crucial information for an approval, modification and rejection of an abandonment plan based on our environmental and technical reviews.
Our experience and substantial track record in this industry allows us to provide our customers with benchmarks for similar projects and use this information to examine the financial aspects against potential cost reduction.
Global decommissioning experts
Our global network of skilled teams will ensure your decommissioning project is delivered on time and on budget, and in full compliance with global and relevant regional regulations. Our multi-disciplined engineers will help demystify issues after the cessation of production of your asset, such as ensuring safe removal of all hydrocarbons from the process plant, disposing hazardous waste, and plugging abandoned wells without leakages.
To minimize the impact on the environment, the structures and topsides that are recovered and removed can be recycled for reuse or dismantled for scrap. We offer many other services through our global consulting firm, Advisian, as well as a comprehensive list of key services that are related to offshore decommissioning.
Whether your decommissioning offshore project requires expertise on subsea structures, offshore platforms or floating productions systems, Worley will help unravel the complexities and ensure project success.
